    Buckle Up - 2019 Edition

Bama looks to have finally gained control over Appalachian State with about 2:30 left in the game, in front of a raucous crowd of 468.

No way we could hire Kelvin Sampson after the NCAA trouble at Indiana. Houston can get away with that, but with our compliance history, that's a major no-no. From what I've heard, Hoiberg is a top candidate at UCLA.

    Coaching options from this article:

    Steve Prohm
    Fred Hoiberg
    Kelvin Sampson

Long shots not mentioned in the article:

    Joe Dean, Sr. or Jr.
    James Naismith
Bobby Knight (he's apparently still kicking though, so there's a chance)
    Adolph Rupp
    John Wooden
    Gene Bartow
    Rollie Masamino
    Jim Valvano (too soon?)
    John Thompson

FYI - somehow I missed that Patrick Ewing is now Georgetown's bball coach......maybe we should order a skip trace on Jim Farmer, Antonio McDyess, Robert Horry, and Enis Whatley
Alabama alum Steve Prohm is one of the top names to keep an eye as Greg Byrne looks to find a new basketball coach for the Crimson Tide.

If we're lucky, maybe we can get Texas A&M's second choice.

Is he suggesting SEC basketball is better than Big 12 basketball? That's laughable.

If Prohm says no, we are in a no win situation. Forbes seems like a good coach but he certainly isnt a name thats going to excite the fan base.

Once again, compare Avery's record with Prohm's @ Iowa State. Almost mirror images within a few games. IDGAF if he DID win a couple of titles in that relatively weak conference (compared to the SEC).

His resume' is too close to Avery's. HARDLY an upgrade.

    Yup.

The Avery Johnson era at Alabama is reportedly nearing its end.

The University of Alabama and Johnson are negotiating a buyout to mutually part ways after four seasons, according to multiple reports Thursday. Michael Casagrande of AL.com reported it first.

Negotiations are ongoing one day after the Crimson Tide’s season ended in the NIT. Johnson’s current buyout sits at $9 million. After April 1, it decreases to $8 million and then to $6 million after April 15.
